is that French and Persian are related languages, going way back to an ancient split off point. Apparently those two groups of speakers can more easily learn each other's languages than say, English speakers can.
Geography, anyone?
Migration movements, language's changing bit by bit with influence from other languages, etc.
Very interesting stuff if you like grammar.
