2 shorts

Done and in the drawer. Good thing there's some in the laundry so there's drawer space. One pair left to attach waistband and add elastic. Already made the casing. 5 pieces of fabric left and one is cordoroy so probably won't use it for shorts anyway. 4 left to make if I go that far with the sewing.

Got lots of watering done. That's gotta be good.

Ed Beggley's on Larry King talking about solar stuff and energy efficience and recyled products, etc. I'm gonna make banana bread in the oven. Where's Ed when my light bulbs need to be changed???? See? Live as I say, but don't expect any favors from me!!! My favorite new motto.

Nothing's on tonight. Think I'll watch Anderson Cooper maybe. Probably be all politics. News usually is the last 17 years since they started in on the presidential fiasco. He is my favorite. Seriously.

Long day`

at the dr's office. That looks so wrong without a period = dr.'s.

Complicated punctuation.

Even though I played Animal Crossings the other day, I don't want to play any games still. Not even the new Legos Indiana Jones. That'd be a fun one, too, or will as soon as the walkthrough's posted and it's free.

I was way too early for the dr so sat there forever. But it's done now and he decided to up the chemo, so I have to wait till the rest of it and the barf drug (anti) arrives - a day or two or three.

3 shorts, 3 different stages of almost-completion. I don't seem to want to finish them and it'd only take a minute. Exhausted again. Such a tough day and all.

Well...I did turn on the water and clean out the cat box and got the garbage to the curb. I did good.

And gained 5 pounds. I a week or less. uh...no more cake, maybe? I'm sick of it anyway. Still the gingerbread and the ice cream. Could happily throw them both out, but what'll I eat? Oh, ya. Toast. With butter and jam and peanut butter. Or tuna sandwiches with mayo.

I'd better hurry up and wear the new clothes while I can.

And that's a fact.

What a day

Yesterday. Church Day. All Day. All Mormon, too. Never did make it to mass. Knew I should have gone early, or Sat night and just didn't.

I missed a feast day, too.

I really like the Mormons. Apparently, there's 3 churches in the same Stake (Steak?) so activities in all 3 are announced to all memebers to attend as desired. They really understand the importance of fellowship and involvement and friendship. Met some very, very nice people and had COOKIES!!! Homemade, delicious cookies.

But it's 3 hours Sunday Morning, then an evening meeting at another Church. Too many hours for me. I sat out much of the time in the parking lot, uh...smoking. Yes. That's me. Smoking at church.

The Church and I will be having some theological issues. They also don't believe in the Trinity, a concept I find possible to believe, but they don't believe in many gods the way the Witnessness do which is a relief. I find it nonsensical to have to pray to 'Father God' just so there's no confusion to the gods as to who's being prayed to.

People tend to eschew things like the Trinity because they're intellectually incomprehensible to the human mind. People can't create a trinity or live a trinity, therefore, it's not possible. I find it very possible for God to live/create things people can't and can't really understand. But whatever.

It's going to be hard for me to sit still for an hour at a time. It's been so many years since I attended things, it's hard for me to go at all, so given the nice nap I had in the afternoon, I did well all day. Didn't bail(bale?) and head home.

The paper didn't come and I never called. So now I don't have the local entertainment events available. Forget trying to find out things on line. An endlessly futile exercise for me.

Shorts, however, are comming along magnificantly. Not much sewing yesterday given the extreme number of outside activities, but solid progress even with all the mistakes.

The only realy problem I gave myself was not to change the baste stich to a seam stich. I didn't fix it. Life goes on. With larger than desirable stich length. See? Cheerful attitude and everything. All from such a positive Sunday exposure.

The Dr today at 12:20. Next round of chemo starts then. I sure hope I'm doing this right since the drug got here last week and all. Have all my meds baggied up and in my purse. He wanted to check the count last time and I didn't take them or anything else I might have been taking which I wasn't taking anything else anyway but am now.

Lively sentence. Huh.

At least

I'm up in time for churches. Still haven't decided what to wear. Guess I'll pick something eventually. Have to, won't I. Or not go at all. Not my first choice. But first, a bath.

Done sewing

for the day. I could have pushed it, but after the past few days, why?

Looked up my cocktails, Singapoyr Sling, Side Car and Manhattan. I've had Manhattans before and like them a lot. Maybe I'll try a Cosmo sometime. Regis likes them, afterall, so they have to be good.

Not having a sandwich tonight. Opened soup and made toast to cut into croutons. I was hoping for clam chowder, but it's potatoe with roasted garlic. Not the taste I was longing for, but it works And it's not bad. This is the kind of time I wish I had some knitting. And some light. Am calling the electrician (insurance covers most of it) to replace several outlets. I can do it, but hate the crap out of electrical. I have to turn off all the power to the house and change wires one at a time cause I'll screw it up for sure otherwise. One is loose from the wall, the one behind me where I sit to knit and read so I can't really use this spot for much. I can turn on the hall and the one livingroom light for some help, but it's not good light at all for doing things.

Oh, I guess that was a recipe. Open a can of soup and cut up buttered toast for croutons. For an elaborate splash, toast in oven and on second side, butter and add parmesean for tomato/vegetable soups. What an inspiration!

success!!

Maybe. Got the pockets attached with only one wrong seam and one wrong pinning on which I fixed in time. I think. I take nothing for granted. Time will tell if I screwed up in little or big ways. Even though I just made a pair, I have to check the instructions for every step. That's how I am.

Getting ready for side seams and closer to leg shaving or it'll be too late.

Getting dark. Finally put a light in the kitchen over the sewing area. It should help since it's so dark without lights. There's a fan, too, which is nice. I'd put the cover back on the fan light, but think it'll dim the light. It fell off when they re-roofed last year. Haven't used the light or the fan in years.

Now for the hall way and bedroom lights. I usually just wait for daylight. Works for me.

Do you believe this????

I got the first pair of shorts ready for the elasstic and they're done. Getting the second pair close to the pockets. Scared.

And

Did I mention I'm playing Animal Crossings again? Things are looking up. I just can't get interested enough in the internet or tv to do nothing but those two things day after day after bloody day.

Guess I'll have to hit a later Mass if I do both that and Mormon services. Mormons start at 9 and I can't get there in time. Think the 7 a.m. Mass is in Spanish and I really wouldn't understand that since I don't get the Mass at all anyway. Only been a couple of times and always get lost. A foreign language would really be a roadblock to comprehension.

I need to unpack my suitcase. Get the tops in drawers, the shoes in the closet in their shoe box where they should live, the toiletries stored somewhere or other. At least I have lotion if I do shave my legs. See how hard it is to be a girl? And how lovely.

I got a nap

Think it worked. After only an hour wake-up time, I got the waistband on my shorts fixed and I'm on my way to completion. Only 3 or 4 days to make one pair of shorts when I can usually get two to the hem/elastic point a day.

Hmmm....not much to deduce here. Just generally out of sorts. And using up twice as much thread as necessary. Honestly, I should give it up.

Mormons came to the door today. 2 ladies. Young girls, really. One asian from Austrailia, the other from Tennesee. Might go there after Mass. Am I confused or on the road to there? I can't even make shorts, what do I know about religion.

I could wear my new clothes to churches tomorrow, then again to see Donna on Wednesday, if indeed, that's for Wednesday. July 2nd is all I know.

There's a soul food restaruant (or however it's spelt) I'd like to try, but since my number's blocked and they don't accept blocked numbers, I can't call for location. Probably close. There's also a taco special at a taco chain place on Sundays. Might try to remember that one. Then there's a fundraiser at a restaurant not too far for the Catholic church that'd be fun to help out. I like food. That's Tuesday, I think. I should have some money to spend then at least. It was all I could do last night to stop myself from spending my last $7.00 cash on the soul food place. I really wanna try greens in the biggest way.

I want to go to all churches that interest me, too.

I'm a slut, a whore, a soaker up of this thing or the other. All in the name of connection and interaction and something to do. Like making shorts when I don't need any and don't even have drawer space for the ones I do have.

What a weirdo ramble. What do greens, religion and shorts have in common? Nothing really other than 3 things that are on my mind at this moment.

Wear the new skirt or not? I could wear the new pants. They're nice enough, I think. And I could save the skirt for Donna and the Hyatt and the Capital. That'd be funner, and Donna'd really like the outfit, I think.

I could go back to Macy's and get another skirt and a couple of blouses if i keep up the church stuff. I have a pattern and some fabric I could make one skirt. If the pattern fits well enough, I can get more fabric and make lots of skirts. Cheaper and funner. A project with a purpose. Not making blouses, thank you anyway. Back to Macy's.

And if I wear the pants, I don't have to shave my legs.

Eureka! I found the answer to life..

I went to Catechism this morning.

And plan to go to Mass tomorrow. It's somebody's feast day. St Peter? Don't remember. Great Catholic I'd be. I enjoyed it. Especially afterwards then the Irish priest started talking about WWII, Germany, Lord Ha Ha. He'd asked about my ancestry and it's mostly Celtic on Dad's side, some German and Mom's was strongly Dutch. She was 3rd generation. No cultural leftovers as far as I know, sadly. Dad was the only one who talked about these kinds of things and the big family story is that they came over on the first boat after the Mayflower and got the first divorce here. The family continues the tradition.

I might like this and the Cathedral's here, so I can go there if I want to, too. I could anyway, I guess.

Am seeing Donna on Wednesday. Might go the Hyatt for those two drinks and if close enough to walk, will hit up the Capital for some Mission history. They have literature on Ca history, or used to.

I don't mind losing the SF Trip at all. Funny. I should be very disappointed, but I'm not. Maybe it's all this God thought.

Now I need a sandwich.

Lemonade update

I lost a blog. Decided to make a call and didn't even care I hadn't posted it.

I sewed some more and have to take it all out. I don't care. I'm too tired to care about anything. Why am I so tired when I wasn't last week? Not like this. It's not right.

But the Lemonade:

From America's Test Kitchen newsletter

Slice one lemon thinly, discard ends and muddle with the sugar using a potato masher to disolve the sugar. This flavors the oil with the lemon oil from the peel. Strain and add rest of ingredients.

I won't add the rest of their recipe since I don't know the niceities, but it probably is easy enough to find at their website which I don't have the URL for either.

Better post this before I don't care.

Everything's different now

I no longer want to go to San Fransisco. I want to get my dental done. I can dress up here and go get cocktails. I can take a day trip to S. F. I can stay home as usual since I don't mind that at all.

And I'm eating a sandwich. Takes the onus off of many things.

I love sandwiches.

I could check out resturants here. I could learn how to spell it. Or not.

I set my alarm for the morning so i'd remember Church...class of the thing I can't spell either. Catholic.

Back to trying to figure out what to do or not do. Lots of options. Really.

I'd rather stay home and do things around here. There's theater, music concerts and Circus. Stuff. And most of the time I'd rather not go anyway. Lots of places to eat and visit, too.

This way I could go to the Capital and get some history stuff and not feel bad. If I never go to S.F. again, don't think I'll care a lot. I could have gone any time all these years and didn't want to anyway.

Fickle, I know.

well, now what.

Things look different after the dentist. Should I still go to SF? Don't know. I could just do a day thing, eat at the St Francis, do the bay tour. Use the clothes for church. That's an option for sure. Can't get in for cleaning for 4 to 6 weeks, need a crown I have to pay for - $1000 or so. I really need to think about this now. But can I get back the same day? Have to call Amtrack.

and the beach

I really might try for that cause I love the ocean and Half Moon Bay isn't too far. I can drive. No airports. Maybe September would be good. Give me a chance to catch up. Might have some dental expenses comming up and won't go at all. Find out today. Don't want to give up SF at all. That's the important one in all of this.

And the most expensive.

hahahahahahaha

How to blow the budget in 1 easy step. Make plans and stick to them.

I guess

I really was too tired to sew yesterday. I had to re-fix the pockets this morning that I re-fixed several times already.

Done now. I hope.

Ready to sew the side seams. Maybe. This pair is taking longer than any pair ever have. Except for the 2 I let sit for 2 years before finishing, but that's not the same thing.

Ashton Kucher was on Regis. He took one of the girls' boyfriend outside for shooting practice when they first met. Between Ashton and Bruce, Demi has her girls well guarded. Who's gonna mess around there? Only an absolute fool and those kind probably get weeded out early with those 3 parents. The girls proabably all have good horse sense as well.

What a lot I thought of from one casual remark. I love tv.

But Regis and Kelly is all rerun bits after the opening this week. Don't know why they do that. Unless they're on vacation and pre-filmed the openings early. Doesn't matter to me at all. I didn't miss it finally.

Dentist today and the dr on Monday.
Should have the credit card by then at least and can find out about reservations for SF.

Think I'll give up the Reno deal. I was really just looking for something to do since I got into the do something mode. If there's a show I want to see, that's different. There's lots of theater here anyway including the Music Circus. There's only one show there I want to see and one I haven't heard of that I may want to see. I may want to not see any of them when it comes down to it. I'll have a problem staying awake if I can't get matinees anyway. I love theater, though.

More than I love sandwiches, and I love them a lot.

Wicked

Broadway, isn't it?

Ugly Betty's on. Haven't seen it before. Bad me, I know.

Marlo Thomas is supposed to be on according to the remote. I'm excited. I've loved her since...well, yes. That is how old I am. That Girl, naturally.

Am liking Ugly Betty, too. Too bad I didn't start from the beginning of its run.

Was just trying to think of a way to use " its' ". That would be the plural possive, right? "It's" is the singular possive. Can there be a neuter plural possive? It may be possible, but would its usage make sense. Always more questions than answers. Wonder if you can do any of that with pronouons. Theirs's (Ted and Bod's books) Just the Theirs.

I'm having fun. Does it have to be The brother's books: Their books. Bet they're declined or set in stone already or something.

finished my sandwich

I really wanted relish. Didn't get any. Don't know why not. Thought I could make another tomorrow and get some then. I'm tastin' it now.

See what happens to this blog when I've nothing to do and no energy to care about anything except pickle relish?

It interests me no matter what I write about.

I haven't played games except for a brief time the other day when a new one from the rent place arrived. I liked it. Sponge bob is one character. Platform type. Might buy it. Might not. Haven't played enough of it to know, but so far it's not too hard for me and that's always a bonus. Might be an old game. Oh, it's Attack of the Toybots.
Ya, it didn't mean anything to me either.

I had a couple of better posts that I lost. Easy to say when they're gone, isn't it. Shall I say it again? I'm all about easy.

I lost 2 blogs

today. Can't sew, can't blog. Afraid to turn what's left of the stove on. Made a sandwich. With potatoe chips. Cause I have some. Best with bologna, but using ham. Ham frozen, defrosted in microwave. Bread frozen, defrosts quickly on a plate. I've some cheddar. Want some on sandwich. Think I'll get some. Used mustard, too. See? I can cook.

found out

that Arnold can't run for another term. He had 3 years or so after the recall then one one election. But the recall counts as a full term, so no more are possible.

Interesting. I emiled somebody from his or the government site or someplace who gave me a link to Ca laws to peruse (no thanks), and his office phone number. I called. It's surprising what you can find out if you keep asking around.

Why was I intested? No idea, just was.

Started sewing. Shorts. The only thing I make. Keep making silly mistakes so gave it up for today. Or for awhile. Whichever comes first.

Tapped out - broke for the rest of the month which isn't that long. Have the car license due the end of July, then nothing I can't avoid. Looks like the SF trip is on as long as I can get reservations which I can't till the card gets here. Should check for it just in case although it may be a bit early yet. Apparently I can buy a bay cruise ticket early, too, but why? Maybe thats for people who ride frequently. That's strickly not me.

The cable car stops at the hotel and it's only 2 miles to the bay if I remember correctly. This may be a no sweat after all. Considering the way I always get lost, things are looking up and very positive. I can get a pedicure at the hotel, too and I just might. But what time? Probably early afternoon, then time for a nap if I want (need) and off to the bars. Uh, the bars in the hotel.

May try to get enough snacks there to have for breakfast. Leave me alone! I like eating that way. Or if they have Eggs Benedict, I'll get some there and eat the snacks on the train if I feel like it.

I like being prepared. And organized. I love last minute fun. Disorganized and weird. But not so often. Should call the church, but it's lunch time.

nothing to say

familiar refrain
from my corner
of paradisio
sublime.

I really do have nothing to say. Nothing to do. I was asleep by about 6:00 p.m., awake by 10:30 and it's 3:45 now. It'll be a long day.

I'm already wondering what I'll do with myself. Don't get cute.

I move the MSN and Playstation and tv to the table to get some of the electrical burden off that one, poor outlet. It works good. Once I figured out that the strip wasn't turned on and finally found the switch. Lots of dusting involved.

Now I have to dust the blank spaces the moves created. How soon can I fill them up? Can't find the furnature stuff and don't want to use damp rags there. Shoot. Bummer. NOT going to the store at 4 in the morning.

Sylvia Plath. That's the name I couldn't remember. I remembered The Bell Jar and that she was married to Ted Hughes, but not her name. I spent 3 weeks trying to understand one of her poems. I've totally forgotten it. Not worth the effort to me to try any more.

I did find out that the beach

Half Moon Bay is just south of San Fransisco. Looks like I can drive. Good enough.

And tv? so far nothing as usual

I called

lots of places. The important one was MSNTV2. They're working on an upgrade to Flash 8. I can die happy.
She promised it wouldn't be 2 years, but didn't say it wouldn't be 1. Could be months. I'll have to blog to Regis and Kelly insead of using their site.

I wrote the show a letter about a couple of issues I find important. The going green spot had a mistake and a serious omission. The new low watt lights have mercury and if broken, it can require HSMATT or somebody to clean things up. It's a serious health hazzard for kids and maybe others. AND they have to be properly disposed of - no dump for them. People don't talk about that part much.

ALSO, the green woman said to use plastic bags at the bottom of potted plants. Disaster. They'd just hold the water and the roots could easily rot. The pebbles or broked clay pot pieces help the water to drain out which is the desired potted effect, kinda like...well, never mind.

But I also explained my problem with their site and asked for a plain page I could mail them from. Snail mail with my handwriting probably means no one will read it.

Can't think of any recipes. Aren't you glad?

I burned the cake on the stove

don't ask. I shall tell you now:

I put the cake on the burners. I'd left the burner on.

This is why I don't cook much anymore.

Now what do I do all day? Chores? No way.

One more phone call I can make then I'm on my own. Any ideas?

No matter. I can always come up with something or other.

recipe daze

I made a cake. This morning. It's good. Think I might have under baked it. The center sank. As long as it tastes good, I don't care what it looks like. At all.

Ginger Bread Pudding Cake

Mix together and set aside:

2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/4 tsp powdered ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp allspice
1/4 tsp nutmeg

Next, cream:

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar

mix in:
1 egg

alternately add by thirds to the creamed mixture:

flour mixture, then

1 cup molassas
1 cup water (cold)

all 1/3 at a time

Spray or otherwise prepare a 9 x 13 pan, pour in batter and add topping that's really pudding:

Sprinkle 3/4 packed brown sugar evenly over the top.

Mix 1 1/2 cups boiling water with 3/4 melted butter and carefully pour over the top.

Bake at 350 for 40 to 50 minutes.

I like it and that's the important part to me.

well, I'll be

surprised every day, I'm sure of it.

http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/

Today's daily crockpot recipe is for crayons. I'm loving this.

another thing

is that French and Persian are related languages, going way back to an ancient split off point. Apparently those two groups of speakers can more easily learn each other's languages than say, English speakers can.

Geography, anyone?

Migration movements, language's changing bit by bit with influence from other languages, etc.

Very interesting stuff if you like grammar.

Recipe

This is one that interests me. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a side dish or main course or even a dessert, but I put it on baked potatoes. Yes. With butter and sometimes (usually) sour cream.

Green Beans with Beef

1/2 lb ground, or scraped, meat
1 1/2 tsps ground ginger (this makes the dish)
2 tbls minced garlic (bet a press would work) I hope this isn't really tsps...use your preference

2 tsps onion powder
1 tsp pepper
3 tbls soy sauce
2 tbls honey or brown sugar
1 lb fresh green beans, cleaned and cut to choice (ya, I use about 2 cans)
2 tbls flour
3 tbls water

Brown beef, ginger, garlic, onion powder and pepper.

Mix soy sauce and honey and add to beef. Add beans and either cover to cook beans 10 minutes or heat through canned beans.

Bring mixture to a simmer. Mix flour and water together, stir into beef and cook long enough to thicken.

Do the usual fat removal from the beef if there is any.

more stuff

I went over the the Catholic Church I'm not supposed to go to and a lady in the parking lot told me to try in the day time. I needed gas, really, so that's why I went. I'll call or go to mass on Sunday. Saturday night? Don't know what goes on. But will find out if there's Saint worshiping. Never noticed it when I've been to mass before. All 3 times.

New recipes. Easy ones.

Lemonaid

This is interesting to me because, 1. I need a recipe for everything, and 2. it's how the sugar is disolved. It'll work for any sweetened drink and won't fall out of solution.

1 1/4 cups sugar disolved in some of the water, boiling

1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice
5 cups water

Bring some of the water, 2 cups? maybe, and stir in the sugar till disolved. Cool and add the rest of the ingredients.

Everybody I asked about this sugar method had never heard of it. Interesting. It's from a Southern cookbook.

Osyter Crackers

I got this from a friend's sister. I think it's from the Hidden Valley Ranch Co., but not sure at all. I just know that I like it.

1 box/bag osyter crackers (don't have a weight for this, the regular size?)

Small Hidden Valley Ranch package of the orrigional recipe

2 tbls dry dill weed

1/2 cup light oil.

I mix the dry together, add the oil and mix. Then add the crackers and mix a lot in the bowl I'll keep it in.

The directions say to add the seasonings to the crackers. Whatever.

Keep it on the counter 4 to 5 hours, mixing occasionally, then keep refridgerated. Really good. High Sodium and stuff.

I scanned

and didn't find any mention of cocktails on the blog. hmmmm....

I started a list for my purse so I can remember in the hotel.

I want to try some drinks from the 20s - a favorite period for me. Well, The Thin Man, of course. Sheesh.

Maybe it was a side car. Can't think of anything else. But I have a note ready just in case.

And I can't find the sausage and rice recipe. Figures.

and

I was gonna post a recipe.

How about 'the purpose of life is happiness' and this blog is a recipe for how I found and continue to find it daily no matter what else is happening? Because it's true, and I do. Constantly.

Meet me at the St Francsis. EVERYBODY, and bring me a horse.
I'm serious. Horses are what I care about most. I'm really shootin' for July 14. For one night.

Clothes all bought and almost ready to go...have to dry a load.

You can join me on the bay cruise, but you have to leave me alone so I can do what I'm going there for.

I'm not there to entertain other people. I have specific tasks in mind and will do them even if I have to be rude. That might be fun, in fact.

one: get there
two: bay cruise
three: check out hotel, look for historical literature, free preferably

four: get bar food for breakfast or the train ride home and dinner

five: find a bar type spot and get a side car and singapour sling (I just added one, didn't I) what's the third? Thinking.......do I have to read my own damned blog to find out?

Probably

uh, didn't I ever say?????

My number system is all about Meeee and my fractured family, I suppose starting before my own broken collar bone before the age of 1.

How'd that happen, Momeee????

4's a bad number for me even though it's 2 squared. Lots of head injury before and forcepts baby. The cause of the dyslexia? Maybeeee, Momeeee. (keep adding the e's till you get the right number for you).

We moved from Tacoma when I was 4 and really only met my aunt and uncle and 2 cousins a couple of times. Mom's brother. The one who shot his setter in the butt when she didn't hunt right and hit his baby so hard it knocked him out of his crib.

But he hunted, I might have picked up some gun stuff. And fished, they ate the grub, even canning fish. Salmon in particular.

His boys both played football. I'm still not sure what a down is.

See? Lots of things to catch up on.

Maybe I was better off without them; I'll never know now. I went to visit him and his girlfriend some years ago, before Mother died in 1993?, and he made a pass at me.

Bye-bye Tacoma, bye-bye. I used say I was born in a coma. Well...I thought it was funny. That's where I had the dream about going down that drain thing when I was 4. Uh, the coma?

I know! Since there was a train in the background, my bedroom faced a field and trains went past and I listened for them at night when I was scared in the dark, there was the train, the field and me on a palamino. Obviously sex Freud stuff from a 4 year old. Since I'm 56, I had to be a 4 year old some time or other. Oh! 52 years ago. I was born in 52. Added up with the 19s, 52 is 8, neutral, 2 cubed, good. 56 is 3. Trinity, good number, the teeter totter is built. Just need 2 pieces of evidence to cross the bridge to prove again that it was right I didn't die from pneumonia at 10 months like I thought I should. The numbers prove it's right that I'm alive. I didn't have any other evidence by the time I was 15 and there's the 6.

Fucking sad if I needed numerology to prove I had right and reason for life at all. huh...and it took mania for me to think it up in 1982 which is 2.
The 3 before makes the teeter, the 2 makes it not totter and together they're 5 which is my perfect number. Perfect balance. Just right.
I got the answers again that I got all those years ago. It's just filled out more now as time tends to do with anyone paying any kind of attention.

and oh ya, three

Prince William switching to geography made the start to think about it and how important the perspective and cultural aspects are to history. Teach geography and Latin if that's all you can do and you'll cover a lot of bases.

and oh ya, two

Make it a physical timeline they can walk up to and touch and compare, different colors maybe...back up with interesting historical detail and explain the importance of dates, find ways to help kids remember them.

and oh ya

Teach PEOPLE for history especially for little kids. I'll read all kinds of biography and no battles if I can help it. My favorite parts of history were how people lived Pilgrims and Wagon Trains.

Try it, it works for the backwards child.

rambles

and a chronic complaint. History - how it's taught.

There's a small history blurb featuring David McCullough (master historian. I want to read his Adams book bad, but will probably settle for the DVD since I'm not reading much of anything anymore. That could change, she mutters hopefully?)

He answers about why history is important, but nothing about why kids don't learn it. It's taught boringly. He liked it, not many do.

All through to senior year in high school, we started with Puritans and never once got through WWII. After the westward expansion, and for parts of that, all it was was memorizing election details and those happen every 4 years. ENOUGH. NO MORE Monroe Doctrine which I don't remember what it is anymore.

The intro mentions that kids don't know the dates of the Civil War. I never knew till years after highschool. Numbers don't sink in with me readily, better now than then, but it's not easy for me to think with numbers past 9.

It ends in 1865, add those numbers and it's two, cross the bridge to 3 (the teeter totter) and the 3rd is more proof that the South won the war. There's lots of details here I won't go into, but to start with the feet, (horse allusion) my middle name is Lee and my brother's is Grant. You can figure it out and more info fills in more blanks, but American Saddle Bred horses are my latest find. The South won and continues to win. That's my theory and it works out somehow everytime. 1861 it begun...7, Biblical neutral number, personal meanings, nothing inparticular or even special that I can ever remember.

So use a world time line. What major events happened those years around the world. When did England outlaw slavery, for example. We get almost NO world history and the only history I'm interested in much is ENGLISH history which I've read on my own, developing through LITERATURE. And I don't know much there either, 1066 Battle of Hastings, William the Conqueror, the beginning of French as the official English language. around 440, Rome falls, leaving lots of LATIN in Britian. Vikings? Norse language parts everywhere. Anglo/Saxon/Jutes? GERMAN. English is a GERMANIC language with lots of LATIN and FRENCH also GREEK. Probably more stuff I don't remember.

TEACH LATIN FOR ENGLISH AND HISTORY for Christ's sake!!!!!

Guess what my major was.

That's all folks and yes I CAN'T SPELL or PUNCTUATE. Can I communicate? What counts? Depends on where you are.

another great day

and a short one. Finished my SF shoping this morning. For about $100. That makes the trip cost about $800 without food. I don't have to eat much and want to try cocktails more than eat anyway.

I got the purse, on sale, about $25 or $21, I forgot. Black, long strap, but the best part is the inside pockets and zipper part. Perfect. Crocheted outside, nicely lined, kind of the melon shape which isn't my favorite, but it's not too big. It's a SAK which Tiffany says is a good brand that I've never heard of. I like it and it's affordable, on sale. And a pair of knee highs for the bay cruise.

Also couldn't decide between 3 black 3/4 length sleeve knits for under the blue blouse so I got them all. They'll all work with the blouse open especially. I like 'em. They're on sale, too, and only available as end of the season get rid of items. Good job Sharon the personal shopper. Again! Yeah is what I say to the whole Macy's experience.

I have no idea what the food's like at the St Francis. I might like it. I need to call, but don't recall off hand all my questions and should wait till the credit card gets here.

I am so excited about my clothes and trip. All I have to do is get the credit card in hand, call for hotel and train reservations, get cash, finish packing and maybe get toothpaste and a toothbrush for travel. Don't know what toiletries (that was one question) are provided. Probably things can be bought, but why do it there?

And call the dentist. Cleaning.

Anything else? Damned if I can remember.

Write Barbara with the excellent shoping news.

What to watch

Is always the question here. Caught some of the Olympic Trials for women's gymnastics now I'm done. Put on a Dixie Chicks DVD and that's the thing for me.

Although I didn't much like their last DVD, seemed lacking in their usual kick from the instep and big band variety sounds, I'll see if they've anything new and what the sound is. I really like them.

Played through most of my DVDs and CDs recently and now I'm glad I've ordered something new. A Maureen McGovern, Ricky Nelson with Garden Party, 2 Christmas albums by Alan Jackson, and one or two others I don't recall off hand. Mostly bought to make up the free shipping charge cause I wanted the McGovern and a strip plug. See how I am? Spend money to save. Works for me.

And today! I got almost everything (find I need a purse for evening. Had one that's mysteriously disappeared) today at Macy's for about $200. Even shoes. For reals.
I know, I know!!! And they have the best personal shoppers. I've never used them before although I've shoped at Macy's since they've been in town. There were several there and they all helped with how things looked and fitted and stuff.

Got one skirt, the prettiest thing, white with black embrodery around the botton. Big spillage risk, I know.
Black pants for traveling, a black blouse for the skirt, 2 knit tops, comfy not gorgeous, a lovely blue blouse for the slacks and I could wear it with the skirt if so color inclined. The the shoes, $30. I'm not kiding, not. Not exactly what I had in mind but think they'll work fine for both travel, walking and evening.

Then some black under things. Excellent day.

Now all I've got to get is a black evening bag of some plain sort of design. I looked at some on-line and they were extremely ugly and some stupidly expensive. And that's not the top of the bag line - not even close. I think $20 is plenty. hahahaha....I'd go $50 if I had to.

And I got a handy-dandy credit card that I could use today and got 15% off everything I got for that and some discount with the personal shopper. Use them, I kid you not, they're glorious. Especially for someone like me who hasn't shoped for clothes for 20 years maybe. Again, not kiding. AND the shopper gave me some hangers which is a real blessing for the skirt and pants.

Once she got a handle on what I like and was looking for, she was unerring. Yes, I don't like that tan but do like this one. Huh? I think that may be women. We're supposed to be that way. And I hate plaid. Almost totally. Not that she showed me some, cause she didn't surely. I just thought to mention it, that's all.

Next trip: The Purse

Did I just appologize for watching history

instead of food network. I believe I did. Strange and silly. I want a new keyboard.

Been trying to talk myself into a night or two in Auburn instead of S. F. It's not going over well. Not with me. Don't know what there is to do in Auburn and other towns are long drives on windy, hilly roads. Not with the truck, thank you. Maybe another trip that'd work, but I might prefer Placerville.

Are there mini Coopers everywhere? Cool. British, I think they are.

I tried

To watch the Daytime Emmy's. I went to Jack-In-The-Box. Got back in time to see Regis get a lifetime award. He gives great speaches. Best I've heard, I think. Then I'm gonna watch Paula's Party. Then wait 1/2 an hour and watch Chelsea Lately.

Exciting life. Well, I like it except for being out all day. Wellness? Hellness maybe.

Except now I'm watching C-SPAN's history booknotes. This stuff can be very interesting and I've seen the Paula's Party before.

lately

I've seen lots of recipes for Sloppy Joe's lately and guess what? That's right! I just happen to have one that I like. And the secret ingredient? Honey. It really works - really. Add it to your own recipes sometime and see what you think. If you want to only, of course.

Sloppy Jo's

1 tbls oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 onion, chopped
1 bell pepper
2 lbs hamburger (or TVP for most any hamburger recipe)
6 oz can tomato paste
1/2 cup water
1 tsp dried oregano
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 tsp cayenne
1 tsp Worchestershire (optional, but why not?)
1 tbls honey (optional, but try it out)
salt, later
hamburger buns, or whatever kind you like

Saute onion, garlic, bell pepper and ground meat. In a bowl mix the rest and add to the meat. Bring to a boil and add some salt. Live it up.

Add water if too thick. Serve on toasted buns.

The previous

post was brought to you courtesy of MSNtv2 and it's myriad idiosyncracticies. Thanks! Mr Gates.

the link is to a horse farm that breeds Percherons in Manitoba, Canada.

But what they really have is a Percheron cross with Arab/Saddlebred that's good for Dressage and saddle. Maybe driving, too.

Perfection. Forgot the name of the farm. Looks like a special place and I'd buy there.

Am I gonna buy a horse? No. I'm not even going to buy a dog, sadly/

I found it

http://www.charleswoodpercherons.com/

and another thing

I was looking at Hello! magazine on line and Princess Anne's daughter was seen hugging her uncle, Prince Charles and another royal or two. This is what we need to see. People acting like the loving family they are, like most of us have. Well, loving at times.

They're so formal and full of protocal that I think we tend to forget they're human with the same needs as everybody.

We need to see those moments more often. And Prince Harry needs to change his name to Henry if that's what it is. More adult, seperates him from the Harry uproar stuff which is the adolescence we all inflict on each other, especially the folks.

Good going, guys.

again...

I decided something else, too.

I want a Boston Terrier, a white French Bulldog (two related breeds) and a giant schnauzer to train for herding. Sheep. Get a loom, small one probably. Hire a sheerer, thank you.

I've decided for sure I want an Arab. Mild mannered, not much over 10. Not highly bred; that's where a lot of the temperment is. I think.

And a Percheron or two for driving and riding. I love Percherons. A lot. I only met one at a rental place. She was mixed, I think. I like 'em anyway. Not as big, I think as Clydsdales. Back's too broad and they're too tall. Be hard for me to ride all the way 'round.

I've decided probably

I'm going to SF August 18th. It's Dad's birthday and we scattered him in the bay. Also it's in between chemo unless something changes.
It also gives me plenty of time to get things pulled together. I want to go now. Maybe I'll change my mind. Has he been dead for 16 years? I'm stunned. And mind boggled. I don't usually add up the numbers. That means mom's dead 15 years. I really don't believe this. Not at all. Must be true. They're dead.

No. I want to go now. Around July 14, week of. I shall if I can get a credit card. Everything hinges on something else. How long does it take for the cards to arrive? I should be able to get one. Everybody keeps sending me the stupid applications.

I went to the Bay the year after the scattering, after all. Dacey didn't want to go at all and I never did again either. I might be able to take a Bay crusie and drop another note like I did before. He and his father don't care if it's an official birthday or not. I don't too.

I don't want to go on the weekend, so this is perfect. And I don't want to wait till August.

This is the real San Fransisco Treat.

Me.

I'm goingg to...

No. Not there. I'm going to San Fransisco. To stay at the St. Francis.

The train goes to Emeryville, then a bus goes right to the Square and hotel.

Should I get a view or not? I really want a room with a view. A single. Now the rates are only about $50 difference. That could change like air fares. So could the train fare.

I could go next month. Don't have to pay bills and have a lot left so far.

Can I do all this for $1,000? Maybe. Have to get a credit card first. How long does that take? I'll find out, I'm sure.

I'm staying home tomorrow. Going to go to Animal Control and the bank for the card. Have to hit the vet for the paperwork first. $30 for 2 animal licenses. Not a deal. I've got a month, best to get it done.

If I call later, maybe I can get the cat's shots on Saturday, too. Got time for that as well.

I've got pharmacy type items to pick up as well. And 2 outfits to buy. One for traveling and shopping, oops...2 tops there, and one more evening type deal plus shoes for both. Hope Macy's is having sales. I'll see if they have personal shopping help. They used to. That's a lot to get done in a couple of weeks. I could wait 3 and probably be feeling much better.

I sent Barbara a check. I'm gonna write to her to tell her about my upcomming high fligher event. One night. What can it hurt? Only the bank account and that's been dented before.

This is for a cause.

How much time does anyone have? Do it now.

And read blogs.

recipe or guideline

You decide.

Beef (or pork or lamb or even chicken) and Noodles

meat as needed, cubed
water and beef/chicken broth
flour and seasonings. As prefered.

Season meat, salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder, paprika, etc to taste, usually lots.

lightly coat with flour. From Food Network: season meat instead of coating to use less seasonings.

For chicken which I probably wouldn't use, I learned from America's Test Kitchen to lightly coat the pieces with corn starch to ensure tender and juicy nuggets. The did that for a stir fry after marinating the chicken.

Brown meat in oil, add about 1 can,
Swanson's size, broth and water to cover comfortably - maybe 2 inches over the top of meat. Cook till done. I use stew meat and cook 2-3 hours. My mother used veal and cooked maybe 20 minutes. I don't like veal. Don't like how they're raised, either.

When done, add 2, maybe 3 handfuls of noodles and cook till done. Too many and there's won't be any gravy left, might need more liquid before noodles, it thickens a lot. With chicken, I'd add some frozen peas.

Recipe or guideline? Doesn't matter, I think. Tastes good.

Been under the weather lately. But better now and will improve daily. Been here, done this many times.

I've had ot.

With politics. I never did like it. Now I hate it even more. After tonight.

If Gore wants to back Obama he'd better get those guys in gear. Apparently they said that Florida and another State were unnecessary to win the election.

What? Huh? Isn't the political thing to say is that all states have equal importantance? That all voters are equally important? Wouldn't that be the right response? Guess not. They're Democrats.

And the Republicans aren't any better, maybe worse. There's Elisabeth on The View, for example. She gets rude, demanding, insulting, and merely attacks the opposition candidates instead of letting others speak their piece. Did I say poorly mannered? Rude, I believe. Apparently no one is allowed to criticize McCain without her Onward Christian Soldering into the fray of her own making.

And since when is criticizing or questioning a Republican become unElisabethian? Seems to me it's the American Way, but then she's a neo-con. I hate to mention it, but I believe it falls under free speach and she won't shut up long enough to let anyone else speak. I wonder who she thinks she is? All that, probably.

And she just isn't.

If she doesn't like this blog guess what? She can revoke my rights of speach and opinion regarding a public person. This would be her, not me. And guess how much I care.

I can see why Rosie had such trouble liking her. She's almost unlikable to those she disagrees with. Even her voice is irritating.

Oh. And the rest of the Republicans? They're smarter.

Waldorf, I forgot

grapes. Don't remember if my mother used them, but purple, seedless grapes cut in quarters if large might be good, too.

There's a Rooster!!!

Outside and everything!!

Was walking back from the neighbors and heard him crow. About what I just don't know. Made an egg? Wants to?? Who cares. It's a real, live rooster in my suburbs, and that's all I care about. Period.

Waldorf Salad, Mom's style

Mom used to make this and, it's so easy I'm surprised I forgot

Apples, I think tart and sweet both would be good. Unpeeled.
Chopped up dates, don't get pre-chopped, not good at all
fine diced celery - sorry, a must
walnuts, can substitute, but why?
mayo mixed with a little milk maybe.
a little lemon juice to stop discoloring

mix and chill maybe 30 to an hour. Great for lunch the next day. I think that's it, but you know I'm never sure.

I'm gonna run out of recipe surprises.

the very best

Origional Blue Cheese Dressing

- from Sara Moulton's Cooking Live show. She claims it's a year's supply. I find it lasts one week for one - me. Good for dipping also. What the heck would I otherwise do with it all????----

1/2 tsp minced garlic, I Know!
1/2 tsp dry mustard - I've used ballpark to no bad avail.
3/4 tsp pepper, white if you want. I find black just right
1/8 tsp white pepper. don't use at all
1/4 cup RED wine vinegar, I Know!
1 tsp Lea & Perins (Worschestershire)
1/4 tsp hot sauce
1 cup sour cream
3 cups mayo, I use the whole jar and generic works well
1/2 cup buttermilk, I tried sour milk,(1 tbls vinegar to 1 cup milk)
and really kinda thind it's not quite right
1/2 lb blue cheese, whatever kind

mix and refridgerate over night for best effect.

Need I say Yum!?

Louis Dressing

Really. Quite delicious and perfect for frozen shrimp for ShrimpLouis. Look it up.

so, Louis Dressing

1 cup mayo
1/4 cup heavy cream, whipped (really!)
1/4 chili sauce
1/4 cup finely chopped green Bell pepper
1/4 cup chopped green onion
salt and lemon juice to taste

mix everything but whipped cream. Fold in last. The sweetened varieties won't work. The sugar, I think.

Let sit awhile. The longer the better.

last post

was especially for Jon and Kate. How to save money here to have it for there. They don't bake a lot, but pancakes, quick breads, muffins, etc possibly. Soy flour has to be healthy. I say so, that's who.

Well, I forgot...

Sunday, June 15, 2008

and another thing

1 tbls soy flour plus 1 tbls water equals 1 egg. Good for baking. Convenient and handy in the veggitarian world which is rapidly overtaking the planet. I run fast.

I think, pretty sure, it's soy flour.

More important information

I recently discovered lye soap. No, not to use, but how handy it is and how easy it might be to make. Wood ash and hot fat (from rendered stuff)

Easy to make in the BBQ, but not safe to use for cooking thereafter. Find something metal. Maybe galvanized or maybe not. What does galvanizing to to metal? Don't know if it's still food safe.

Wood ash and hot fat (animal) amounts unknown.

Said to be harsh. Cut it with some kind of lotion (Thank you Dove soap commercials) and add scent.

Cheap for home use or internet/craft fairs.

Brilliant.

I think.

Never tried it.

cooking tip of the moment

Sprinkle or grate nutmeg on cooked cauliflower. Makes all the difference.

Really.

Carey

I forgot. He's tough. I like both him and his wife. I don't mind her radicalism. But he speaks too complicated and people don't often till the end or get the point cause he's sophisticted mentally.

Bush is quick and uses trade experesions like adverticizing does.

I mostly don't want any presidents.

Oh, ya

I don't remember Carter running cause I never paid attention to politics till lately. I've always liked him as far as I know. I can't remember anybody else off hand.

Bush? I like him. Really, really hate his politics. I wish he'd pay more attention and think about it. Like his family. All of 'em I know.

He's another one I see religion conflicting with democracy.

I saw a guy on Cavuto who'd voted for Dewey. Isn't that stunning and wonderful? That's what I like about life. Always so many things to know.

and then there's PW

Pioneer Woman.

I saw some nasty blog posts about her. How does her life take away for theirs? Nasty, mean, thoughtless remarks. The just sound jealous mostly. Her fault? Living off her husband's money. Huh? People often share in the lifestyle of their in-law's lives. She doesn't do nothing. Apparently, she does the things that make her husband happy. Is that his choice? If he'd wanted to marry someone with money he'd have looked there. They give each other what they have and make a richer life for it for everybody.

George Will is on Hannity. I saw him on Colbert the other day. He's funny. Conservative. I can like conservatives. Without both conservatives and liberals we wouldn't be America. Think about it. He can.

I missed the View and most of Regis. I'd wanted to see people on both shows, but at least I got to see Regis and Kelly and that's the important thing. The good news.

New Recipe:

My mother would slice celery (she always peeled the strings off, I never do) and simmer it covered with water with a beef boulion cube. Tasty, simple, and handy when looking for dinner dishes.

I don't respect meanness. I don't like it. I don't want to see or experince in my life or on TV.

I don't like Bill and Hillary. There. I said it. I've always seen something untrustworthy in them and have bee repelled. Do I have evidence or reasons? Of course not. I just react to things and see if I can figure out any reasons. I just like McCain. I just like the other guy who ran who's name I can't remember but is Mormon. I like the preacher from that group, too, although his religious politics scared me. I'm wary about Obama. But I prefer a Democrate.

I haven't liked any running Dems that I can remember. Occasionally I see one, but they're not running and I can't remember their names. But not often. I like the Kennedys. All the time.

I don't vote. I did once for Clinton and was stressed and upset for 4 years. I don't like that feeling at all.

So you decide.

I'll live with your choices like you'll live with mine.

stranges days

Didn't sleep for 2 days. Naped finally this morning into the later aftenoon. That's the good news. The bad news is on TV. How people are, how we are as a people.

I saw Karl Rove on Fox beratting Jimmy Carter. Rove ought to know better than to get nasty about a President. But it's politics and all respect goes out the door when there's a win in sight. It's possible to disagree respectfully. Bush politics at work. Bush says the harshest things about the left, negative labeling, and people don't seem to notice much. But things we hear become our experience and often belief. Be nice and mind your manners works everywhere.

The black preacher guys. Do they hate America, or hatred their armor? This suffering gives them motivation and justification and power to feel entitled. Good. That's nice. More distance.

People who want others to loose are loosers who only feel like winners if they can see another's losses. Empty. More armor wearers

And why doesn't Hollywood have a fundraiser for Ed McMann. Venerable public presence but nobody thinks to help out their neighbor.

Ace of Cakes

is on. The things they make are amazing. I have no artistic talent or ability whatsoever in any way. I might be able to stomp grapes.

It's hard to understand where those ideas come from. I don't have any. The structural stuff is especially astounding to me. I'm lucky to remember to plug something in.

They really are a kick and I enjoy them. It's an environment unique to me. I don't remember seeing this episode, but that doesn't mean I didn't.

It's been a monumental day. I should write it down. I got a haircut AND a long nap. I don't even know how long I slept, but it was yummy. An hour or more? Doesn't matter. And the Chinese. Did you know that sweet and sour sauce is good on everything. Especially fried won tons and fried rice of any variety. It's true.

Dad used to get Chinese sometimes and always had sweet and sour. It ended up on my fried rice somehow and is now a staple. I had some today. Still have the rice for tomorrow. I ate the one ton and fried shrimp first, naturally.

TV wasn't so bad today, either. I woke up 10 minutes before the end of NCIS and started it on OnDemand and turned it off. Not in the mood. I might have seen it already which doesn't matter in any way.

The haircut lady was weird on the phone but very nice when I was there. Must not be a phone person.
So glad that's over with.

Good day.

only 45 minutes

If I make it, I'll catch What's My Line. I'm working on it.

I found a couple of walkthrough pages for Indiana Jones. The walkthroughs aren't posted yet.

I shall walk through the game myself in that case. Untill they're on line.

Jon and Kate

Are talking about disapline. Kids need disipline and organization and boundaries, and with that many, they need lots of all three. The only time it bothered me was the bagel. It's like baiting a little kid to have stuff around.

One of the biggest problems I've seen with kids is lack of self-disapline which comes from being disaplined - actions have consequendes, good and bad.

I have so much respect for them. I couldn't do their job. Wouldn't want to. I've heard stories of one or the other parent bailing on multiples.

They put endless energy and attention and thought and sacrifice into their family. It's hard for me to see some things I know hurt and they can hurt for a life time. I'd never question their motives or devotion or sincerity.

I can see how tired they are sometimes. That makes it so hard to cope, their attention divided by so many kids and activities and obligations.

Like I said. I like them.

AND I got a nap. All of 10 or 15 minutes. I'm rarin' to go. Go where? Probably a web site.

It looks great!

Legos, Indiana Jones looks like a great game. I'm too sleepy to persue it. Ok. The truth. I'm stuck already. Great art, good movenent, characters switch easily. Too easily for me since I chronically push the wrong buttons. Guess I could read the booklet for any hints. Or look for a walkthrough. Or something organized. No, like stumbling around and trying to figure things out. I die a lot. Highly recommended with about 20 minutes of gameplay into it.

I really do want a nap and don't feel like messing around with anything technical. Maybe I'll take out the garbage.

Oh, I remember

Another favorite commercial. I think it's for Comcast, but not entirely sure. It has the singing and dancing executives representing the expensive choice. It's entertaining as hell. Great job. Haven't seen it for awhile.

Guess what just arrived? You got it. Adios while I check out Indiana Jones.

Deviled Ham tip

Mom always kept it in the fridge. The oil would solidify and is easily scraped off.

This is a favorite of mine. Think it came in a booklet with the paper. It says to split the english muffins, then quareter the halves. I use it as a meal, so don't quarter, and yes. I butter the muffins. For a snack tray. You know I can't spell that other word.

Unpizzas

2 lbs browned, seasoned hamburger
2 cups mild cheddar, grated (I most likey use sharp)
8 scallions, chopped
1 4oz can sliced mushrooms, drained
1 12 oz can sliced olives, drained
4 tsps chili powder
2 cups mayo
2 pkgs English muffins
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper

mix it all together. spread on muffins and cook at 400 for 10 minutes or so till it pleases you.

I read somewhere, think it was Pioneer Woman, that a spread for bread she makes is really good cold on crackers. I found the same with this - best on a Ritz.

It even freezes ok but needs more mayonnaise when thawed.

I'm done with recipes for today. Probably. Depends on what I think of.

Osyter Stew

Dad used to make himself osyter stew with jared osyters for lunch once in a while. I always got a taste or two and found the osyters a strange chewing experience, but kinda good. I always looked forward to it, but didn't really want much of it. I've never cooked with osyters, although I've no objections to it.

Raw osyters really don't appeal. I'd try one to see, but know that I'd be happy with them. Rockefeller maybe. They're toped and baked aren't they? It's not something I think of to try at home. But they might be really good.

Stuffed Mushrooms

1 lb medium mushrooms (large for a side dish, small for snacks works too)
3 oz cream cheese, softened
1 can deviled ham (not the biggest and I think there's a tiny can - about 4 ozs or so?)
2 cups fresh bread crumbs, divided

****there's a misprint in the recipe. So it's either 1 cup divided, or 2 cups divided. I think I use 2, but adjust for preference

1 tsp onion powder
1/8 tsp back pepper
3 tbls butter, divided

Rinse, dry and stem mushrooms. Chop stems to equal 1/2 cup.

Combine cream cheese, deviled ham, 1 up bread crumbs, chopped stems, onion powder, and pepper.

Melt 2 tbls butter and brush on the on the cap tops (not the insides). Mound stuffing mixture in each cap.

Melt remaining 1 tbls butter and mix remaining 1 cup breadcrumbs. Sprinkle over mushrooms. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes. ***I like the mushrooms doner, so cook up to 30 minutes.

Fresh bread crumbs for those unfamiliar - tear bread into pieces then grind in a blender. Orrigionally I used the tearing with a fork method and the other way is much better. I think it's about 1 slice per cup, but I could really be way off on that.

just tired

I'm tired. Yesterday was a long day for me and I don't remember any naps. No energy to read or game and not sleepy enough to sleep. That's all it is. But it's getting boring so here I am again with nothing to say.

My brother started making desel fuel at home. He gets free deep fryer oil. It's a fairly lenthy process that requires space, but doesn't sound complicated. He says it costs him 45 cents a gallon. There's also a by-product he can extract and sell if he wants to. It might be glycerin, not sure, but he says it gets a pretty good price. It's something that can be gotten at a pharmacy, I think. The by-product, that is.

I'm not sure how many desiel vehicals he uses, from one to 3 manybe. It might not be helpful if people need a lot of it, or don't have the time to spend fiddling around with it. Don't know how many gallons he makes once. All I know is that it requires 2 tanks and the fluid needs to be heated (and filtered maybe) twice. There's likely an additive required.

These gas prices are killing everybody.

no symptoms

But I forgot what I was doing and took the chemo closely after the anti-barf pill. There may be trouble ahead. So far, I don't mind chemo.

Wonder if something's tv tonight. Dance maybe? I could, of course, check the schedule. I have a link and everything after all.

I googled arugula and happily found that, yes! Other's don't like it too. It made me feel weird to be the only one.

There's nothing I want to. No net sites, no games, and I certainly don't want to go somewhere.

I'm trying to think of something that won't cause too much trouble. Nope. There is nothing.

Well I made it

70's music is on. It's just so perfect.

No side effects yet. Some hair loss is expected, but not baldness. The interferon woke me up 1-2 am 3 or 4 times maybe to barf. Really not bad. And this is chemo, not hormones. Who knows.

And then there's pickled beets, and sauted asperagus, and carrots cut on an angle given a 1/4 turn for each cut afterwards - lovely method. There's lots of good things I've experienced because of others.

Now I wanna go to sleep.

oh, ya

The kraut and cheese spread has canned corned beef hash, which looks like dog food, but one simply doesn't look at it and that prospect disappears after other ingredients are mixed in, cheddar and swiss cheeses and I don't remember other details. It's heated and when all hot and melty is excellent with a triscut. Or several.

And then there's the best stuffed mushrooms ever created in God's country. From a vinyard in Napa/Sanoma printed in the paper years ago. With deviled ham. I'm serious.

another good one.

Rock me gently, rock me slowly.

And I can understand most of the lyrics most of the time.

I am truly entering a state of bliss.

Alright, rock on!

Burning, burning most excellent.

Oh, I do know Donna Summer's name. More excellence. What great brass and sax.

Disco Inferno? Is that the name? I'd never know the tune from the title. I'd rather know the song.

Afternoon Delight is on

Skyrockets in flight....they use all the singers, variety of instruments. It's complete, complex full. It's music.

Groups don't use their back-up singers enough mostly. It's more boring and monotone kinda stuff.

God, I love this one too. Do I know any of the artists? No, no titles either, waiting for lyrics.

Comples lyrics I can't shorthand...'I'm not talking 'bout movin' in' if that rings a bell. These guys all make me want to sing. Good use of back-up singers and instruments.

This stuff has a melody, too.

see, here's the tinng

The 70's groups are musical. They're sound. Where'd that go?

I'm just loving this stuff. But I don't want to join PBS. Not for any reason in particular, but it'd probably cut into my game budget.

This is great

I have on the 70's music program on PBS and it's wonderful. I didn't think I wanted to see it, but I'm just reveling. If they have a DVD, I might consider a contribution, but probably not since I almost never play them after the first time, but maybe I will. See, the CD set is $150 and don't know if there is a DVD and that's a lot for some songs.

But the show will play a couple of times probably. It's on again tonight at 10, but I didn't get a nap so I predict sleeping through it.

The German Women

I used to know also made the best fish. She boiled/simmered whole trout with a little vinegar. It's the best, really. She's a terrific cook, just rigid. I don't see her anymore.

Dad made the best chipino one time. I asked him later to make it again and he just looked funny and never did. Was it too expensive? Sure was good. Yes. I love shell fish. Never had muscels or abaloney so I might not like them.

I had the best clams once. Steamed in their shells. Simple - delicious.

huh.

This is interesting about Washington DC and Puerto Rico not having different election rights. DC doesn't have elected officials but can vote for President. P.R. can't do either.

Uh..."No taxation without representation?"

If they pay taxes, Congress owes them a big refund.

They can make up the difference by taxing the politically active churches
(smile)

Alright, Alright, Alright!

Indiana Jones shipped. This is Better than good news. This is better than pot roast.

So far not sick. I keep checking out everything I feel to see if it's symptom of something and I think all it indicates is too much me. I don't really know what to expect, so I am a little worried.

But now I'm having a new problem. Since the dishpan is doing vomit duty, where do I the dirty dishes? Please. Don't bother telling me to wash them. That would be ridiculous.

Think Obama just blew it

He said he resigned his church to protect them. Not because he thinks they're wrong. Might have been a bad move - his loyalities are there and he'll be connected further to the preacher-speak.

We'll see.

Back from Pharmacy

I'm on a count down to blast off. about 15 minutes I take the chemo, got the no barf stuff swallowed. But first, I have to get over my new pharmacy snit. I'll describe it for you now.

I yelled at the pharmacy on the phone and they were nice to me when I got there. They've never been nice to me before. I'm moving on.

Anderson Cooper - that's who I wanted to see on late night when I fell asleep instead. I love it when he substitutes for Regis. He's very sweet and funny. Probably smarter than Doogie Howser. He doesn't ever appear to feel superior to others and he's got an actual reason to. His mother - she probably has class, too, not too familiar with her. Life gave her some hellish knocks, though. Class always shows and has nothing to do with money or birth status. Oh, I'm watching his show now, some election thing since it's not a weeknight. It's Sunday - YES, I know what day it is today. I'm liable to forget tomorrow that it's Monday. I now have a calendar.

Somebody on his show was saying that Obama's ex-church, Trinity, did so much good for the community, etc, excusing maybe the preacher stuff. The negative can always be so bad that it, uh, negates the good. At least for some people.

"He/She's such a nice, helpful, community minded person. It's ok he killed his mother. See? Those sermons killed the trust and any sense of connection. Nobody has to know theology or the history of Black theology. Nothing can be excused historically, only understook better. Not necessarily approved or accepted. People will make their own decisions about what Trinity means and that's based on the individual.

Jesus, YEL!

Chicago's supposed to be on the next Private Sessions. Hope I don't miss it. One of the best sounds ever.

I'm thinking up more amazing recipe tips. Think I about shot my wad on them, though.

Cyndi Lauper and ribs

I like Cyndi Lauper. She's on Private Sessions. She was told she can't sing, and she can't. Neither can Liza Minelli and I like her too. What they do so well is sell the song and have interesting, intreguing voices that please. They have what I don't see in people like Carrie Underwood. No depth or emotional range or honesty usually. Entertaining enough they are, just not sound.

Dad used to make a terrific ribs (pork probably) with sauerkraut and potatoes. It's been a lot of years since I had it, but I think he browned the ribs, added them with the kraut and potatoes and baked for awhile.

The potatoes have a wonder kraut flavor that I've always loved. I told the German woman of the Tartare event this, and she said, "Mashed" and looked scared kinda. Dad peeled and quartered baking potatoes. Really, really good. Probably added some onion, never used caraway seeds. See? Simple. Salt and pepper, I'm sure. Did he include the kraut liquid? Too many details I don't know to pass this off as a recipe. But I have make a kraut/cheese spread that's divine. I like kraut.

I also like calf's liver the way my mother made it. I don't like the onions she sauted for it, but the bacon's the bomb. Never beef liver here, she said it's too strong and showed no interest in chicken livers. As do I. Bread and fry briefly. The best. Think I probably had to develop a taste for it and that comes from experience.

But I'll never get used to arugula. Ever. I'd barf first. I'd rather barf than eat arugula.

They all do it

I checked on news shows this morning and they all look into the camera. What's the difference on Red Eye, then? Are they just closer? It's really very odd in a different, unique kinda of slightly intimidating sort of way. I'll have to think about it. Or do something else. Whatever, dude.

I've another recipe for you from Peg Bracken's book. Fortunately, I don't remember it enough to attempt communicating it without copy to, uh, copy from. It's sausage and rice. Has celery. I heard that some people don't like celery. I'd never have thought that. It's a benign, mild sort of taste with a little bitter shot maybe but in a good way to me. And it's especially yummy stuffed with pimento cheese, Kraft, I think, straight from the jar. I love cheese. I love celery and it gives a nice crunch. It's good in sausage and rice. The celery, of course, loses it's crunch in the cooking, still tasty. To do this right, I have to go look for the recipe. I may not want to. Good, easy, one pot type of meal.

But see? Everything I eat is carb based - everything I like goes on carbs.
